The main difference between plants and animal cells is that plants have a cell wall and plasma membrane made up of cellulose, while animal cells have only a cell wall. Secondly, plant cells have chloroplasts for making their own food while animal cells lack, because they depend on ready made food. In relation to their shapes, plant cells have regular shape, while animal cells are irregular in shape. Some of the differences between animal cells and plant cells is that animal cells do not have a cell wall unlike plant cells. Plant cells also have chloroplast for photosynthesis whereas animal cells do not. Animal cells are round while plant cells are normally rectangular. Plant and animal cells have a variety of differences, among them, the presence of cilia in animal cells, which is very rare in plant cells. Animal cells are also round and typically irregularly shaped, which is in contrast to the plant cells that are normally rectangular and fixed in shape. The difference between an animal cell and a plant cell is that plant cells have a protective wall of cellulose covering their cell membrane, which makes them very rigid, whereas, animal cells have flexible membranes. This makes sure that animal cells have diverse shapes. Other differences include presence of chloroplasts in plant cells and presents of centrioles in animal cells which facilitates mitosis (splitting of the cell) . The key difference between a plant and an animal cell is that a plant cell has a cell wall made of cellulose to be able to absorb large amounts of liquid through osmosis without damaging. Animal cells do not have a cell wall thus too much absorption can lead to the cell exploding.
