a² = b² + c²

where,

a = hypotenuse side

b = one of the other sides

c = the second of the other sides

Here, b = 5cm, c = 12cm and a = hypotenuse.

substituting,

a² = 5² + 12²

a² = 25 + 144

a² = 169

√a² = √169

a = 13.

Your hypotenuse is 13cm.

I know be cause the square root of 169 is 13

I got 169 by doing 5 times 5 which is 25 plus 12 times 12 which is 144

144+ 25= 169

And the square root of 169 is 13

Thn the hypotenuse is 13 cm
